More Than Competition: What Makes Dance.tech’s Performing Arts Company Different
When families hear “competition dance,” they often picture long hours at the studio, packed weekends, and a commitment that takes over a dancer’s entire life… or maybe that infamous reality TV show, Dance Moms.
At Dance.tech, we believe competitive dance can look different.
Our Performing Arts Company (PAC) program was created with one goal in mind: to grow great dancers while also growing great people.
We believe dancers thrive when they are challenged, supported, and surrounded by a positive team environment without sacrificing family time, academics, friendships, or the joy of dancing.
A Program Designed for Your Family
Every dancer’s goals and every family’s schedule are different. That is why we offer multiple levels of involvement within our Performing Arts Company program.
Whether your dancer is looking for their first competitive experience or ready to take their training further, we have a pathway that allows them to grow at the right pace.
PAC: A First Step Into Competitive Dance
Our PAC program is designed for dancers who want to perform, compete, and be part of a team while maintaining a balanced schedule.
PAC dancers continue their regular weekly classes and add one rehearsal for our full-company Production Routine. Throughout the season, they participate in:
One competition experience in Roanoke
Our PAC-only recital, Company Concert
One to two community performances
PAC is a great fit for families looking for a competitive experience that complements the rest of their dancer’s life.
PowerPAC: Taking Training to the Next Level
PowerPAC is designed for dancers who are ready for additional performance opportunities and a higher level of commitment.
PowerPAC dancers participate in:
Multiple regional competitions
Large and small group routines
A variety of styles including hip hop, lyrical, jazz, and tap
This level allows dancers to continue developing their technique, artistry, confidence, and leadership skills.
Solos, Duets, Trios & Conventions
For dancers looking for additional individualized opportunities, optional solos, duets, trios, and conventions provide another way to grow.
These experiences help dancers:
Develop their own artistry
Build confidence performing independently
Receive personalized feedback
Explore choreography on a deeper level
These opportunities are optional because we believe there is no one “right” path. The best commitment level is the one that allows each dancer to thrive.
Excellence Through Balance
One of the things that makes Dance.tech different is our commitment to balance.
We know that great dancers are not created through burnout. They are created through consistent training, healthy habits, and an environment where they feel supported.
Our PAC schedule is intentionally designed to protect:
Family time
Academic success
Rest and recovery
A healthy relationship with dance
Our commitment to families:
No PAC group rehearsals on Saturdays or Sundays
At least one weekday off each week for every level
Clear weeknight end times
We want dancers walking into the studio excited to learn, not exhausted from their schedules.
More Than a Team, We Are a Dance Family
The thing our families often love most about PAC is the community.
PAC is about more than competition routines and performances. It is about friendships, mentorship, leadership, and creating memories together.
Throughout the season, dancers build connections through:
PAC Kickoff Party: Starting the year by building friendships and excitement
Team Travel Experiences: Creating memories while learning independence and teamwork
Buddy Bunches: Connecting dancers across levels through mentorship and friendship
Full-Company Production Routine: Bringing the entire company together for a shared performance experience
Annual Awards Banquet: Celebrating growth, dedication, leadership, and accomplishments
A Different Kind of Competitive Dance Experience
At Dance.tech, we believe competitive dance should be about more than medals.
It should build confidence.
It should teach discipline.
It should create friendships.
It should help dancers discover what they are capable of both inside and outside the studio.
Our Performing Arts Company program challenges dancers to grow while giving them the support, balance, and community they need to thrive.
Because at Dance.tech, we are not just creating great dancers.
We are growing great people through dance.
